They said, RIP Nokia. I say, they couldn’t be more wrong.-Sebastian Nyström, Head of Products Business at Nokia.

The Nokia N1 Tablet was released in China on 7th January of this year. This product emerged as a big hit with the first batch selling 20,000 units in just 4 minutes. Following the quick sellout of a second batch,a third and fourth batch for China have been planned for February, with a release in European countries to follow and in May 2015,Nokia N1 was launched in Taiwan. It was unknown whether the N1 would be released in any other regions. If it is expected to launch in India it’s price is expected to be around 16k. All the Nokia lovers around the globe may be waiting for it’s release in other countries, while some ponder upon thinking why the N1 was available only in china but not outside China. As we all know,Nokia is a Finnish multinational communications and information technology company, the N1 tablet is actually a Foxconn product, with Nokia licensing the brand name as well as the design, and leaving marketing and distribution to the Taiwanese manufacturer. So,this is the reason behind why the tablet was made available in China-only. Soon it may be available global.

Glimpse of Nokia Z1 Launcher

Nokia Z1 launcher is not something huge. It is a simple launcher and it is very cool and elegant. I’m using it and I personally loved it. You can get Nokia Z launcher on PlayStore.

The fully laminated, zero air-gap screen is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3. Under the cowl of the Nokia N1 is tucked a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor with a 2.3GHz Quad-Core for maximum clock speed alongside a 533MHz PowerVR G6430 GPU, 2GB of RAM , and 32GB of Internal Storage. The N1 includes an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It also comes up with Accelerometer ,Gyrometer and Compass Sensors with a 5300mAh battery.

The N1 is the first Nokia-branded device to officially support Google Mobile Services and ship with access to Google Play Store where as the discontinued Nokia X series used a fork of Android, the Nokia X software platform, which substituted Google’s proprietary software with similar apps from Nokia and Microsoft , and used a Nokia-specific application store.

In terms of connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac are made available. The N1 is the first tablet on the market to use the new reversible USB Type-C connector although the new design is part of the updated USB 3.1 specification, the N1 will only support USB 2.0 speeds. And finally, the most loved fact is that the N1 looks just like a twin to the iPad Mini 3 as the overall design and hardware specifications of the N1 are very similar to the iPad Mini 3.

Pros of Nokia N1

Camera ( 8 MP Rear and 5 MP Front  )  –  Great image quality and 1080p video recording on both cameras.

Faster CPU (2.3 GHz) – Smooth experience.

Storage Capacity (32 GB) –  More storage allows you to store more songs, videos, photos and install more applications.

Cons of Nokia N1

  • No option for SIM Card.
  • Doesn’t support GPRS/EDGE/3G.
  • FM Radio not available.
  • No memory card slot.

Final Words

Nokia N1 was priced at 249$ i.e around 16K INR , and for this price range it stands as pretty good and its hardware and benchmarks are fine. It crossed the benchmarks of iPad Mini in many tests. Apart from cons in which few can be regretted i.e Even with absence of GPS ,you can get an approximate location by using WiFi. Battery saving mode on any android disables the hardware GPS and uses just that. However Nokia N1 can called as rebirth of Nokia and lets expect more these kind of products from Nokia.

Best Tablet till date at a economy price range of 250$
