How to Create a Free Custom Email address using GoDaddy

Email is a fundamental requisite for every internet user. No matter he uses it daily or not, email is required for filling up forms, signing up for a website, etc. We usually never get our desired emails like [email protected], so we add things like numbers, trying permutations and combinations with our first name and last name, Yeah right 😀

This method is purely restricted to people who already have a domain in GoDaddy ( Cause I’ve been on this and I know how to deal with it ). By this method, you can directly get your desired mail address like [email protected]. For example, I have a mail [email protected] which is fancy for me to write it anywhere on the internet and moreover my Gmail address is a bit lengthy.
You can get your desired email address, but this method has a few limitations.
  • You need to own a domain from which you want to create the custom e-mail address.
  • You can only forward emails to your official email address. Umm .. I mean that if you a custom email [email protected] , you can get your emails delivered to your desired mail address residing at Gmail/Yahoo/Hotmail, etc.

For example, my custom email forwards all emails sent to it to my Gmail, where I can read emails and reply to them from your mail address directly without using any other apps, websites.

  • You can only receive emails from your custom email address; you cannot send emails using your custom address using this method.

If you want to do that, there is a plan in GoDaddy like Custom Email Builder which is available for a low price.

For every domain purchase, GoDaddy usually gives 100 email addresses associated with that domain for forwarding. This is method is tested in India, and I hope it is available in other regions as well.

Step 3

Click on Manage Option in WORKSPACE EMAIL. Now you can be able to see the below page.

Don’t panic after seeing the above screenshot. The above screenshot shows all the five e-mail forwards I’ve setup and been using for this site i.e GeekySplash.com.
Now for you to create a forward , Select on Create Forward Option. Do not select options Create and Create Many. Those are premium options which deal with creating a full-fledged email and they are not needed for us.

Step 4

After you click on Create Forward button , the following web page window opens up.

Now let me explain each field in detail.
Skip Create Accounts Option on the right. It is not useful for our purpose.

The email addresses to which you want to receive the emails sent to your above entered custom email ( [email protected] in this context ). You can give more than one receiver e-mail addresses for a custom email.

Plan:

No option. You will probably be having Free email forwarding with domain: YOURDOMAIN.COM . So select it and continue.

Catch-all:

You can make only one email as a Catch-all account. A catch-all account catches all emails sent to unavailable custom email addresses. For example , if you have a custom email address [email protected] and it is the only one registered. If someone mails for [email protected] , [email protected] , etc , all those emails are forwarded to [email protected] if it is made up as Catch-all e-mail.

However , it may also result in receiving unwanted emails sent by spammers to invalid email addresses on your domain.

Enable auto-reply:

You can send automatic replies from your emails as soon as you received an email to your custom email addresses. There are several options such as Reply Subject, Reply e-mails , And custom messages.

After completing this process , try sending emails to test how it is working. If you are not able to receive e-mails , make sure you’ve done all settings right. If you are using a domain from GoDaddy and hosting on some other service say ABCHost , make sure you make settings such that the mail extension services of ABCHost doesn’t interfere with those of GoDaddy.
