If you were having difficulty logging on to Facebook Friday morning during the 11 a.m.(GMT) hour, you were not alone. It appears Facebook was down for about a half hour.
The message is displayed as follows. The reasons for this issue are not known.
According to the Facebook status page, Facebook acknowledged the error at 11:01 a.m.:
“Facebook is currently experiencing an issue that is affecting all API and web surfaces. Our engineers detected the issue quickly and are working to resolve it ASAP. We’ll update shortly.” People who claim this mostly belong to the US east coast, and in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, complaining of outages
During the outage, most users were seeing an error message when they attempted to log in:
“Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”
Interesting thing is that people called cops i.e 911 to enquire why Facebook was down. We can see a tweet by a cop Burton Brink of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department tweeted about the incident, reminding the public the Facebook outage was not a public safety issue. As a result, Facebook trended on twitter!
@moneyries yes, we get calls all the time like this, cable TV, all sorts of things not working, they think we control.
