OnePlus 6T Launched with In-Display Fingerprint Sensor : Everything you need to know about the event

OnePlus’ new flagship killer debuts USA market at $549

OnePlus, one of the most rising and sustainable companies in the mobile world just launched its new flagship killer OnePlus 6T. OnePlus has been following a principle of two phones a year since a while. After the successful OnePlus 6 this year, let us know what more the OnePlus 6T offers than it’s predecessor.

Of course, OnePlus has been teasing and everybody knows that it has an On-Screen Fingerprint Sensor and also that the 3.5mm Headphone jack had been removed to accommodate the sensor. We will quote the specifications and price, availability and then talk about other aspects in the launch.

Pete Lau, CEO and Founder of  OnePlus, started the launch, addressing the audience. Thanks to the community, press, and everybody who made them what they are. He further talks about OnePlus’ community, their members and says the biggest step is partnering with T-mobile and available across 5600 centers across the USA. Ends the speech by saying the product is their #1 priority and invites Kyle Kiang, Head of North America Region and Global Marketing.

Kyle comes up to the stage with a lot of energy.  Says they reached to the Top 5 brands of Premium smartphone market globally and #1 in India in the Premium Market Segment from a team of 6 members. He further adds that their focus is only the premium marketing segment and didn’t want to enter market like from entry level like traditional marketing. He says, you don’t want us to be babbling and you’re here to see the OnePlus 6T. Here is the phone now. Shows the OnePlus 6T product video.

He admits that the phone’s specifications is not their priority but the user experience is. They had the fingerprint sensor tech during the OnePlus 5T itself but refrained to use it to preserve user experience. He says it is the first mobile to sport In-display fingerprint sensor in the USA, fastest in the world 0.34 seconds of screen unlock. He says they wanted OnePlus 6T to be a burdenless phone being clean, fast and intuitive. Also, that they won’t add unnecessary features and wanted the user experience to be cleaner and better.

Coming to the screen, their approach towards the display is always top-grade AMOLED display. 6T comes with 5 display calibrations: Default, sRGB, DCI-P3, Adaptive and Custom Color. To the screen, the notch is now small and chin became smaller. The chin has the antenna and improved performance supporting more bands. Regarding design, 6T comes with two variants Mirror Black and Midnight Black.

OnePlus 6T sports 16MP+20MP Dual Camera setup to its rear with f/1.7 aperture, Optical and Electrical Image Stabilization (OIS and EIS) and 480fps slow-mo videos.  He says they improved
low-light photography a lot and confesses that OnePlus 6 will do better low-light photography and their team is working on the settings.

Introduces NightScape a photography mode in the OnePlus 6T and a #OnePlusNightScape contest in the OnePlus community to promote it. Night-Scape sports a new HDR Algorithm developed by themselves and it just takes 2 seconds to snap with the mode. He further adds, NightScape mode will come soon to OnePlus 6 as well.

Kevin Abosch, OnePlus Innovation Director and Photographer comes to the stage to talk about Portrait photography in the OnePlus 6T. Talks literally a lot about photography, introduces Studio Photography feature. Says the portrait mode in OnePlus 6T had been enhanced by the Studio Lighting.

Kylie comes back to the stage to invite Qualcomm President Cristiano Amon to talk about their partnership with OnePlus and their relationship with Snapdragon 800 series. Amon talks about Snapdragon 845 and elaborates its AI features. Concludes his speech thanking Pete and their partnership says that OnePlus 6T will support 5G very soon.

Kylie comes back, starts with Gaming Performance of the phone. Compares framerate to OnePlus6T with Samsung Note 9. Introduces Smart Boost, which uses RAM as storage for faster  loading time.

He talks battery in the OnePlus6T, sporting a 3700 mAh. About the software, he quotes software experience is been their strength and they give attention to every detail. Shows MKBHD Video where says he prefers OnePlus 6 over the Pixel 2 thanks to its performance and user experience. Kylie adds, their dedicated FSE team works on improving the user experience and Oxygen OS of the OnePlus phones.

Introduces FullScreen Gestures 2.0, the gesture navigation of the Android Pie.
