BlackBerry Passport – All Set for Release

BlackBerry announced that launch of its unique square-shaped ‘Passport’ mobile in September at London.

Till date, Blackberry has revealed very few specifications of the upcoming BlackBerry Passport i.e
   A 4.5-inch 1440×1440 pixel resolution display with a pixel density of 453ppi

Buzz is that BlackBerry Passport smartphone will arrive in Europe in October at a price of USD 599 (roughly Rs. 36,000). Also that BlackBerry Passport will have Corning Gorilla Glass 3  display. Blackberry Passport is powered by a quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor with Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU paired with 3GB of RAM.

Passport is said to have 32GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expandable.BlackBerry Passport features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and OIS, as well as Full-HD video capture at 60fps. Front camera is expected to 2-megapixel camera.
BlackBerry Passport’s Wi-Fi is said to only support the 802.11n standard, where as all the latest smartphones include NFC and LTE connectivity. BlackBerry Passport features a 3450mAh battery, measures 128×90.3×9.3mm, and weighs 195 grams.

A unique feature of the BlackBerry Passport reported that the keypad can also act as a large trackpad. It is expected that a gesture command that enables users to quickly delete words by swiping left, though it hasn’t detailed whether this gesture is for the trackpad, touchscreen, or in proximity to the device.The design itself says clearly that it is not ideal for one-handed use.
The pre-registration for the BlackBerry Passport started earlier this month.

Update 

Blackberry Passport is to be priced at $599 and to be released in a press meet tomorrow at London , Toronto and Dubai.
                   BlackBerry CEO John Chen stated in a recent interview ” I’d figure that to try to get the market interested, we’re going to start a little lower than that.”He added that the phone would be available immediately on that date in some stores and in one to two weeks.
       There is also a buzz that BlackBerry Passport will be available in India from September 29.
